Why is it i find some games harder then doing the thing in real life ?

So for example i play the guitar and i drive so i would have thought playing guitar hero or forza 5 i would have no problems....WRONG. For some reason i just find it much harder. I can play many songs on guitar hero no problem on a real guitar but stick that plastic guitar in my hands and i struggle. When playing driving games i always find it that much harder and usually stick to automatic gears.

Not sure why i have the problems could be that i do not have a tactile feedback or it could be that it is to far removed from the real thing.

Any one else experience this ?

What type of game appeals to you for crowdfunding ?

For me with i find games that i would fund fall into very specific categories.

1. Genres that are not as common now for example project eternity which is a classic baldur's gate style pc rpg but brought a bit more upto date. Traditional 2d platformer or fighting games.

2. Remakes/Remasters or spiritual successors to games i love for example the Outcast reboot

3. Ambitious ideas of things i never thought about for example kingdom come deliverance was a game i did not know i wanted until i saw it.

4. Finally just ambitious games that take elements from stuff i like and seem to put them into a package where you can actually take part in the development by offering feedback they take on board like with project nimbus.

And that for me is pretty much it if someone shows me a game from a genre i have seen to death before like a MMO or a FPS it does not interest me unless it has a really good spin on it

What games would you support ?

When in a takeaway i noticed something

when i saw the photos of the food it stuck me someone must have taken these photos

Then it got me thinking do people have a career as a food photographer ?
Are there courses you take to do that ?

Of course in the end the finished food looks nothing like the photos so i wonder if there photoshopped aswell ?

God of war 3 remastered ??

We are getting a lot of remastered games now it is getting a bit over the top especially when done with still fairly modern popular games.

God of war 3 remastered does not make as much sense to me as a game like they last of us. They say it was to celebrate the 10 year anniversary  but surely it would have made far far more sense to remaster the first game or even all of them and do a collection. To me it just strikes as easier for them to do a 60 fps with a few tweak update to a game that still is great looking rather then go back to the older games and update them (which the ps3 versions were not that great a remaster).

It just seems to me that a lot of companies take the easy option like with sega when they released the house of the dead "collection" but it missed out the iconic first game.

I just really wish they would take more time to update the games i would really love a remake of the first game with next gen graphics and then with the second and third so you can have a complete next gen trilogy on one format.

People would really love a decent well made full on remakes we have been hassling capcom for years for a resident evil 2 remake as done with the first one. And squaresoft with final fantasy VII.

In the end it just strikes me as they always take the easier option

Is it ironic when ?

You trip over a sign saying mind your step ?

You crash into a sign saying thank you for driving carefully through our village ?

Antibiotics make you feel sicker then the bug you have ?

A cat blocks your view of the monitor while you are trying to watch a program about cats ?

A fortune teller has a sign saying closed due to unforeseen circumstances ?

A weatherman sets the date for his wedding and it rains ?

Having a meeting to discuss if they should have meetings ?

Being late to a meeting about the importance of time management ?

Workers at a baker's want a rise ?

Things i see in Games crowd funding i hate and a tip at the end

1. Lackluster pitch video. Which shows to me no effort or worse no pitch video at all.

2.Ties in with the first one but i would say lack of effort with details of the game or how they budget it and general lack of information.

3.When funded you do not actually get the game. I was surprised as i actually had seen a few games where no matter how much you donated you do not get the game you either got a beta version or a demo. Of course they changed that so you did get full games but that is a mistake should not have been made.

4. Companies with no history. When you put money into a project with a developer where they do not show a track record i really feel they have to show the company and the people and what they have done before.

5. Multiplayer only or focused. Now i am not a fan of multiplayer but i think having that as the main feature is a bad idea for starters not everyone can play multiplayer but everyone can play single player. Plus you have the added cost of running servers.

6.Wrong priority for stretch goals. This is something that does bug me a bit. While art books and orchestral scores and releasing it on other formats may be nice i still think they should put all the money into making the game as good as it could be.And worse then that is when they put stretch goals up high that should have been in the game anyway. Also would say do not put stretch goals into the project until it is actually funded or close to being funded.

7. Very soon releases. Seen a few games where the release of the game is actually very soon after funding has finished. You can see a few games on kickstarter where there due for release before the end of the year and i have seen some games where they plan to release a few months after funding. I have mixed opinions about that first i feel there more likely to be released as progress is already well under way. But my issue is if the funding was alot more then requested they will stick to that release date and will not push it back for improvements.

8. Pixelated look. It has really been done to death now and i fear a lot of  developers are using it as a quick way to make a game rather then a design aesthetic i want HD art. But then you have a game like dust the elysian tale which has great HD art and it was done by one person.

9.No promotions . If you just leave it advertised on indie gogo or kickstarter it is asking for trouble i would say go to as many sites as possible to get them to promote it. If you have a budget for it then pay for a PR company to help out.

10. Before you put the project up for funding go to as many websites and people first and ask them opinions before it goes live. I have seen lots of projects that have died on the first impression and even when they went back to fix it was to late.

Could PC gaming really take off ?

As i have said before i do not follow consoles or computers i just go where the games are. And i have noticed past few years pc gaming has taken up a lot of my time.

First you have steam/origin/gog.com and some of the deals i have seen have been far cheaper then console games

Then you have the backward compatibility while granted you are not going to run everything on windows 7/8 a lot of games have been patched to work and you could always try installing xp.

But the thing that makes me think pc gaming is going to get bigger is you are getting games that i never would expect come to pc the amount of fighting games that are out now and are coming soon but then you have games from japan such as the newer final fantasy/dark souls/even a metal gear solid. And then of course you have the modding issues can be fixed and games can be improved beyond what the developers did.

In the end i just hope pc gaming continues to grow

A couple of gaming Youtuber's that should be massive

I really like to promote youtuber's who i think should be a lot bigger as i enjoy there content a lot either for there banter or the shear amount of effort put in.

First up is retro core now i was a fan of his website before he went to you tube the mount of effort he puts into videos is amazing here are a couple of vids

Next is banjo guy ollie a guy from ireland who does cover music and retro games very entertaining

So i would say if you like please sub to them if you do not like still share as i am sure they can be big

i am a casual gamer that plays hardcore games

I do not have a huge amount of patience so i would play games perhaps complete (but not often) and move on to the next one.

But the games i play are definitely not casual blazblue/final fantasy series/baldurs gate/the witcher/godhand. I notice however i never get that good at them i may get to a level where i can do ok but there is no game i can say i am a master at

To give a example with fighting games they have often have challenge modes where you have to complete a certain combo and on average i can probably do 50 to 60% of them but i find my skill level tops out there now i am sure i could do better but will probably take far more hours then i am prepared to put in

So really it is just i play hardcore games casually  it takes a rare game for me to try to master it

Just a few things that make me chuckle

I wonder why with fortune teller hotlines they never call me ?

I phoned a wedding dress shop and it was engaged.

Saw a sign saying caution school children so i said to a child be careful

There was a sign saying traffic calming ahead but i was still angry

Someone on a buy and sell forum  just had down Age 3 €10 boys bundle .I think selling kids is wrong though

When i worked at a call center tried to talk someone through computer things i said click on the bottom left of the screen they asked "your left or my left"

Someone worked for cadbury's i thought that was a sweet job

Are season passes more of a risk then the full game ?

When you preorder a game you have a decent idea of what the game is going to be or even if you wait for reviews and then buy it you are usually safe providing you do the research.

Season passes though asking you to pay for almost half the price of the full game just for dlc content which quality can vary wildly.

And to compare one series  that had two polar opposites first was borderlands 2 which had some great season pass dlc decent length lots of new things though i wish the headhunters packs were included. So after that you see Borderlands:Presequel and you think well the previous season pass was good so i will get this one to.

Except you are wrong and the season pass is a lot worse 2 new playable character a limited arena mode and one story addon which is not as good and i can feel people were a bit burned.

Season passes i feel value for money wise some can be very bad and i would always encourage treat them as if you were buying a full game wait till you see what they offer and if the value is bad wait until there on special offer.

Technology irks

Here is a list of things in technology that really irk me

1. Battery life or rather lack of especially with mobile phones but also manufacturers seem to prioritize every thing else first. And those new smart watches only seem to last a couple of days.

2. Predictable incremental hardware updates. This does happen a lot with graphics cards/processors/mobile phones/tablets it is like they aim for a percentage improvement rather then the maximum they can and often i would find i would wait a extra year just to merit the cost.

3. Mobile phones can get viruses.....i mean seriously it still boggles my mind. What is next my toaster getting  AI ?

4.Unreliability now i know in the smaller stuff it is actually not to bad but when you get to larger devices such as washing machines/cookers even cars problem is they try to pack so much tech into stuff that really does not need it so leads to more things to go wrong.

5.Screen resolutions which are getting ridiculous mobile phones now have resolutions which to be honest they do not need to get any higher can hardly notice plus you need more power to run them. Also with Tv's now at 4k and 8k is coming as well. And while they may be ok for tv and movies gaming nothing at a moderate price can run them.

What i like to see in a youtube channel and what there creators do

So i have a youtube channel most of my videos are very short and quick to make as it was always a hobby and while i would like to make a living from it i know it is secondary.

But i have been following many many creators over the years covering games, history ,music , films and much more.

Games are probably my main go to and for me i like them to be short to the point. Never been a fan of let's play's there to long and my attention span is not that great and for me to watch the commentary would have to be really funny. I tend to watch reviews ,opinion pieces and guides for games.

While i may watch videos for the content in reality it is the creator of them i tune in for when they speak something just clicks and i value what they say.

But now people breaking into youtube i see as getting harder and harder there are so many people doing it now and to be honest there are some that should be a lot more popular few examples are https://www.youtube.com/user/Yakumo1975 for the awesome battle of the ports game comparisons , https://www.youtube.com/user/cliqist for the crowdfunding game comparisons and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC87vxf3ss1zxpYt_xaF-AOg just for being likeable down to earth people.

Thing is i have noticed with quite a lot of channels when there small they interact with the audience replying to comments tweets etc but the bigger they get the less they interact. Now i know if you have thousands of comments you are not going to reply to all but i have seen many where they stop all interacting or worse disable comments. I think audience interaction is something that really makes a difference. Yeah you get trolls but you can ignore and lets face it they watched your video.

In the end i think content creators need to have a passion for what they are doing if they are doing it just as a job with no passion it will come through to people and i try to champion the people who i believe deserve it.

Why reviews should get rid of the scores

I have never been a fan of scores for reviewing games reason being i think games just fall into these categories.

Excellent : One of the best games of its type with little flaws.

Good: Has a few flaws keeping it from excellent.

Good if you like that type of game : Would often be for sports  or specific genres that while doing it fine is nothing new.

Average: It has some good things has some bad will pass the time but probably will never play again

Bad : Basically anything that is below average where the bad outweighs any good

And of course there are variations on that such as Bugged: Need to wait for patches before buying. And one play though that regardless of quality is only good for one play through.

I just think that gives more use then a simple score would

Publishers have access to a gold mine that there not using

So capcom been in business for many years they have a outstanding back catalogue of games that are just ripe for a retro collection. And they do not have to be remastered just released can you imagine a complete megaman collection release ? or what about the arcade games they made that never got a console release (though granted many were licensed so i doubt they could release them) but there are so many.

Or sega with all the issues they have i reckon a lot of people would love a panzer dragoon collection

Often i would give out with publishers being lazy with rushed rereleases but often it is usually because the games they release are still to recent but i would love the option to play games that either never got released are so long ago would give them a new lease of life

If they could be remastered even better
